Jimpster (Freerange, UK)
Steve Sass + Simonlebon
Jamie Odell Biography
Jamie Odell aka Jimpster and Audiomontage has been producing, remixing and Djing for the last 15 years and co-running his Freerange Records label for the last 10 of those. His musical upbringing and open-minded attitude to all types of music have meant his productions have found fans across the globe in the electronica/downtempo as well as house music scenes.
His seminal Jimpster LP Messages From The Hub (1997) as well as his more dancefloor orientated Audiomontage 12"s really helped establish Jamie as an artist of some merit and he quickly became in regular demand as a remixer (over 50 at the last count!) and co producer on a wide range of underground projects. His third Jimpster LP Amour was released 2 years ago on Freerange to great critical acclaim and appeared in various published Top 20 LP's of the year (eg. No.17 in IDJ). He has also recently released his first original track for another label, choosing Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly for Square Up. This became a big underground house track which sat in the top 5 of DJ Mag's Hype Chart for 2 months.
Jamie has also built up his reputation as a highly regarded dj in the UK and around the world. With an emphasis on the deeper end of electronic house music, but never afraid to stray from the path, he retains a freestyle approach that has seen him booked for gigs as diverse as Fabric and Plastic People in London, Cocoon in Frankfurt and 11 in Amsterdam. Other recent gigs have included Shindig in Newcastle, Cielo in NYC, Yellow in Tokyo and Crystal in Istanbul. He also runs
the monthly Freerange night as his London residency at AKA.
Jamie is also a member of highly acclaimed live outfit The Bays, whose performances on John Peel sessions have confirmed them as one of the most important live acts around today. Their spontaneous and totally improvised gigs have been building up a buzz with recent headlining gigs including many of the worlds best festivals such as Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Womad, Lowlands, Bestival and many others.

BTO Spider - High Spirits:
WHARE:
When it comes down to producers you always hear the same old phrases about a Jack who found his Jill or romantic stories about two bedroom musicians whose musical symbiosis finally brought them into the worldwide spotlight, but it really was that way with the Viennese electronic music project WHARE, or at least nearly. It’s true, that Simonlebon and CrisCo have known each other since their childhood, but it would be a long way to their musical collaboration, this doesnt mean that they have been idle before their collaboration. Simon has been on the go as a DJ since the late 90ies and working for Klein Records, when he finally founded, together with Soundlab Entertainment inventor CrisCo, the WHARE project in 2007 – whose message is to let the people dance! CrisCo is someone who is never tired to get it on with his musical mission! In the past few years he has done numerous electronic music projects, events as well as live gigs. WHARE’s singer Colee Royce is no member of the Village People, though you may think so when you see him, because he does his day’s work, when he is not at the recording studio, as a traffic policeman in Chicago. Back in the days they built sandcastles together, now they create tracks, with Dub and House sounds always playing an important role.

Nov 22nd - Sophisticated with Todd Terje (Bearfunk, Full Pupp, NOR)
Sophisticated @ Sass Music Club
Karlsplatz 1 - 1010 Vienna
Todd Terje (Bearfunk, Full Pupp, NOR)
Steve Sass + Simonlebon
TODD TERJE - he likes his music very fruity
Following a string of celebrated releases leaning on everything from kitschy euro sounds to deep funk and latin jazz, the relatively new to the scene Todd Terje has already made his mark within dance music circuits. Gems such as the cheese monster "Eurodans" and the latin disco-fuelled edit of Jacko's "Can't Help it" under his Tangoterje edit-moniker instantly made industry types and clubbers alike go bananas, and whatever the 25 year old Norwegian puts his fingers on, it always comes out with that crucial blend of musicality and playfulness.
Growing up in the rural village of Mjøndalen, dance music influences were scarce, and no, there was never any Diskoklubb there. Not a lot of obscure disco or acid house in his milk either. However, during the early/mid nineties dance culture sneaked it way into even the most remote parts of Norway, thanks to the popularity of acts like the Prodigy and national radio stations filling prime time slots with underground jocks Olle Abstract and Pål "Strangefruit" Nyhus. On the more personal level, Terje's sister was a close friend of the late Tore "Erot" Kroknes, and the tapes she brought home to the young Terje became a major source of inspiration. Playing around in his early teens on a crap PC together with his mate Dølle Jølle, Terje made his first attempts on house and jungle, which they played from cassette tapes on junior high school-dances. Maybe too young for old music back then, Terje reckoned that disco was all a bit silly - until Bjørn Torske's "Sexy Disco" caught his ears in 1999.
Training to become a pianist Terje enrolled at a local music school, but to his disappointment there wasn't much jazz being taught there. Gradually leaving the musical career path, he later moved on to studying physics at the University of Oslo. Although not longer aspiring to become a pianist, he was by no means over music. In 2001 Terje got in touch with Prins Thomas, who was at the time working at HS Records in Oslo. Thomas soon recognized his potential, and helped pushing Terje in the right directions. Oslo is a small place where like minded folks tend to join forces, and with his thorough musical understanding and nerdy like interest in old and new records spanning from that new Idjut Boys 12" to experimental synth bands very few of us have ever heard of, he soon became one of the key players on the Oslo electronic disco scene. Besides working on his own projects, Terje's played on some of Prins Thomas' tracks, and not to mention his remix of the Lindstrøm 12" "Another Station".
Is it house, funk, techno or disco? Terje is speaks of catchy rhythms, dubby sounds, dreamy synth layers, cinematic moods, a playful approach and searching for that one nerve when asked to describe his music, and the resistance to being pigeonholed is obvious. His next ambition is to make a concept album ala Voyage's first "around-the-world" release, if he can find time between other projects, studies and DJ gigs. Terje has already played around Europe, and is looking forward to gigs in Japan and NYC this summer. "I both like playing big room/macho style, but at the same time it's the girls I play for really. So I guess it's a mixture of high octane, leather homo-disco done up with mambo, coconuts and lipstick". Definitely one to look out for.

Nov 1st - Sophisticated @ Sass with Smacs + Patrick Kong (Club 7, FSP, Kachelfunk)
We love: Smacs & Patrick Kong
(Club 7, FSP, Kachelfunk)
Watch out for SMACS & PATRICK KONG! The two mightiest monsters of all time comin´your way!
